strangers ride

When I was a kid, I’d ride on the Louisville city bus with my grandmother. She absolutely loved it. She’d give a piece of candy to the driver and sit up front to chat with him. And she’d point to interesting things out the window for me to see. It always felt like an adventure, this non-car-ride with strangers.

When I moved to NYC at the age of 23, I carried my grandmother’s enthusiasm with me… for buses, subways, ferries, trains, and the Roosevelt Island tram. I’ve learned that a metro card and enthusiasm can take you far in this world.

Have you taken a bus ride lately?
