rekindling

Like most everyone, I have moments of feeling stir-crazy during this time of “sheltering in place”. One evening, I was reading a history book for a new writing project. The book mentioned an important event that happened at a particular house beside a particular set of stairs 70 years ago. Well, that particular location happens to be two miles from my home, and I had never laid eyes on it before.

It was around 7 pm. I put on my sneakers and mask and took off walking. This spontaneous adventure gave me a thrill I didn’t expect. Perhaps because it connected me to my research in a visceral way, or perhaps because it rekindled a sense of adventure that had gone dormant since “sheltering in place” began. In any case, I sure wasn’t feeling stir-crazy that evening.

When was your last adventure?
